I don't speak to them unless I have to. Usually staring at them and not backing down works. But, if in the event we have to talk to them, we should have face shields. Don't want their brain goo getting on us if/when their brains explode.
I think your experiment requires at least 2 people, possibly with or without a movie--to see if flavor is enhanced based on said movie.
We would be doing the scientific community a disservice if we didn't test different toppings.
The question becomes when should we conduct this novel experiment?
i don't know if i'm intimidating enough for that to work for me. [ At least, not without the help of a spider suit. And even that wasn't really intimidating. ] i was thinking full hazmat suits, just to be safe.
i like your thinking, we have to control all the variables possible. i fully believe that the movie can make or break the flavor. i can't do that to our fellow scientists. i'll get a full buffet of toppings choices.
[ Maybe swinging through the city would have been the faster way to get to Rey's house, but for 1: it definitely drew a lot of attention to him, no matter how inconspicuous might have Peter attempted to be. And 2: it would have been a thousand times more difficult to do with an armful of pizza bagel boxes -- truthfully, he probably would have lost a few on the way.
So, he opts for walking. His bookbag slung over his shoulder and two plastic grocery bags hanging from each of his arms, he makes it to Rey's house in just a little over fifteen minutes. And, struggling only in the slightest -- the boxes inside of the grocery bags don't make it very easy to maneuver -- he eventually manages to knock his knuckles (and the corner of one of the boxes) against the door. ]
[Her home is small, very small. It's more a tiny house than anything, but it's better than sleeping out in the streets. She lives alone and her guardian only visits to make sure she's not dead. It has the barest of things a teenager really needs: a bed, a couch, an old television she fixed, a fridge, and of course oven and toaster oven.
Along with a computer, because technology is needed in this day and age.
Hearing the knock on the door she rushes over to it. Opening it, she's glad to see Peter is in one piece. She flashes a smile at him.]
Hey. [She steps aside, letting him enter and closes the door behind him.] How much do I owe you? [Because it's an experiment they're conducting together.]
[ Peter is actually pretty used to small living quarters, his apartment with his aunt isn't exactly the most lavish and extravagant thing in all of the city, maybe only a little bigger than Rey's, but definitely nothing for anyone to go writing home about. It has the basics, and not much more.
It's enough for the two of them, though.
Peter returns the smile with one of his own -- bright, wide and full of teeth -- paired with the best wave that he can give with his hands full as he shuffles inside. ]
No, no, [ He shakes his head, dismissively. ] don't worry about it! The Peter Parker Foundation is graciously providing all the funding for this. [ A beat. ] But, if you insist, you can foot the bill for the next experiment.
[She smiles back at him, reaching to take one of the bags from him. He probably carried those for a few blocks, they had to feel heavy by now. She lead him towards the kitchen, placing the bags on the small counter top by the sink.]
Oven and toaster oven are ready to go. Which do you think we should try first?
[She's already pulling out one box out of the bag to read the instructions.] As part of the experiment, should we watch a movie? Or television? [Because pizza bagel bites go with anything really.]
What made you think you had a sixth sense about this anyway?
[ Free from one of the bags, he shifts the other into a more comfortable position around his wrist -- one that isn't threatening to cut off the circulation to the rest of his hand -- following Rey further inside and into the kitchen, setting the rest of the bags down with the others. ]
The toaster oven? I think it takes the least amount of time that way. I'm curious to know if the difference in cooking time has any effect on the end result. [ He laughs. ] You know, like when you nuke something in the microwave and it never tastes as good.
[ While Rey busies herself with one of the boxes, Peter starts unpacking the others, retrieving a few small bags of gummy candies and showing them off with a grin. There's no such thing as too many snacks. ] A movie, what do you have on hand?
[ He pauses, shoulders shaking slightly in laughter, one of his hands rubbing the back of his neck. ] Every time I would go to check on them, they would be only a few seconds away from being done. I thought it was probably just good luck the first couple of times, but it kept happening so... [ A shrug. ] It seemed too coincidental
[Rey has to wrinkle her nose a little at the mention of nuking something in the microwave.] That's why I don't have one. [And she can't afford one, but that's besides the point.] Like pizza, you don't nuke it. You put it in the oven to toast again and to get the crust just right.
[She looked up from reading the instructions to see the gummies Peter bought, her grin widens.] You bought all that for the experiment? [With all the snacks he brought over, might as well make it a movie marathon. They didn't have school tomorrow so, it could work.] I have Star Wars, The Lego Movie...Indiana Jones..[She's only thinking off the top of her head. ] I have a few others by the television.
[As for Peter's sixth sense about pizza bagels...that could be explained by a few things. He could've caught a whiff of the cheese melting, or just had very good luck..] Well, we could put it to the test. Have you read the instructions on these? If you haven't, you could wait in the living room and I could set things up, and you wouldn't be allowed to go back into the kitchen until you think they're done.

I have an oven and toaster oven. Best if we do the experiment on both, to see if the results differ.

Date: 2017-07-19 05:19 am (UTC)i think i probably know a few people who still think that.
an accurate and successful conclusion can only be made by repeat experiments.
i know for a fact that the crispiness differs between the two.

I say, we start sooner rather than later.

Date: 2017-07-19 05:44 am (UTC)the perfect melting point of cheese is something i've been working on for a while now. i think it requires more brainpower than just one, though.
some scientists spend years on their work, but i think a few days should work fine.
should we test for variation between different toppings too?
