Rey had experienced a whirlwind of events from locating Luke Skywalker's lightsaber to being pulled through time to meet the person who started it all; Anakin. The man was her grandfather, someone who was the 'chosen one' to bring balance to the Force. If that wasn't enough, she learned of her own powers and had to be trained to use them. It was an interesting time, spending weeks learning about the man and studying under him. They developed a friendship, a strange bond between two adults who happened to be generations apart. As much as she enjoyed her time with him, she was thrust back to her present time.

Anakin was right, it was like she never left. Everyone was still at the Cantina, looking for her. The First Order arrived...it was chaos.

But that was then, and this was now. She found out about Kylo Ren and the man he idolized so much. It pained her, no, angered her to know the same person she met had turned to the Dark Side. Rey kept her mouth shut to her cousin, managing to use the Force to keep him out of her mind and push him back. Now, she had a target on her back. The events didn't go well from there, losing her friend and semi-father figure, Han.

Now she was on a quest to find Luke. The man who could or could not be father. She didn't know how many children Anakin had, though she still remembered those strong Force visions of two children. Chewie and her managed to land the Falcon on the right planet, now she had to make the journey to find the Jedi. At least the time to herself would let her deal with her emotions. She was conflicted, angry, and hurt. From losing a friend to learning some of the truth about her grandfather...it was disheartening.

True, she should have specified which 'before' she was talking about. Before on Jakku, or back at the Cantina. Or when she was younger, crying for her parents to come back to her.

"I understand I wasn't ready then...but I thought you would have made an attempt or...something."

Yes, she was Force sensitive, but it was for the better he not guide her. Teaching her was one thing, but beyond that, he probably would have spooked her. However she had to scoff at him. Magic? That was in children's tales. Nothing else.

"Before you came to see me, I...couldn't." Apparently time paradoxes were actually a thing, who knew? "After..." he shrugs slightly, "appearing directly didn't seem like a good idea. But," he smiles a little, "I was there."

Little nudges here and there, maybe. Reminders of what she'd learned, of what she'd seen him do.

A hint of a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. If he couldn't try to frighten, he tried to nudge her in the right direction. They were part of each other's lives, whether they knew it or not. Well, he was here now...probably no for long, but at least she got to learn more about him. At least, he answered her questions and gave her the bigger picture to what happened.

A shame Ren didn't know, though she didn't think he would believe it. He was cloaked in his own darkness, committed to becoming a Sith Lord.

"I did pretty well against him..." Dodging blows and using his lightsaber to cut into the ground.

"Wish you could have taught me more."

"You did do well, especially considering your relative levels of training." Even considering the wound Kylo Ren had sustained before their fight. "And I might not be able to continue your training but that doesn't mean there isn't another who can."

He smiles knowingly. Of course she's going to learn from Luke. He won't let her hear the end of it. If he gets the opportunity, anyway.

Rey couldn't help but roll her eyes at him. Yes, she got the point, she would go to Luke to complete her training. He would be her Master and she would be his apprentice. Was Anakin afraid she might just bail right now instead of seeing him? ...Okay, that was an option in the beginning, but now no. Her grandfather might end up haunting her until she went to him.

"Here I thought your ego would flare up and have you insist you'd finish it."

He kind of tugs at his sleeve as if indicating the part where he's actually see-through and not physically substantial.

"I could but it would involve a lot of meditation exercises and we'd both get bored."

There was a light chuckle from Rey, knowing that's exactly what would happen between the two of them. She would be able to meditate for a longer amount of time than him, but even she had her limits. After a while she might end up nodding off. It was best she save her sleep for after she found Luke.

"Could you get bored?" Considering he was ghost, part of the Force now.

"Never mind, you'd find a way." Which was also true, by now she knew him a lot better than she would have had otherwise.

"That was a silly question to ask," he agrees. Though he had to admit that being one with the Force in this fashion did afford him a wealth of opportunities to experience the breadth of life in the galaxy in a way he never thought possible.

Obi-Wan's declaration on the Death Star that if struck down he would become more powerful than he could possibly imagine was entirely true.

Maybe he would teach Rey that someday, but now wasn't the time.

"Go on, go see him. Tell me all about it later."

That got Rey's attention, she sat up straight and turned more of her body to him. She thought this was a final goodbye or something. Didn't he have only a certain amount of time to just say hi and bye? The Jedi had codes and rules to follow, didn't the Force have something else along those lines? Or was he more inclined, even in the after life, to disobey them?

Besides, didn't he want to spend his after life with his wife? They briefly talked about her, but she didn't get to know too much. Their time was limited and best left for training.

"You mean this isn't the last time I get to talk with you?"

He shrugs. "Does it have to be?"

Don't bring up his wife, he'll just make sad faces.

No, she wasn't going to bring up his wife. That was her business. Just as long as he didn't bring up Poe or Finn. BB-8 was a different story.

"I thought...there were rules. I mean, I thought once you passed away..." You know, be dust, ash, not be able to talk to her ever again. That sort of thing.

He laughs, "Rey, I've been dead for three decades...a little while longer isn't going to make much difference."

Besides, the Force was eternal and he was the damned Chosen One. He'll stick around if he kriffing wants to.

Rey narrowed her eyes slightly at him, it was an honest question! He didn't have to laugh at her like that. Fine, the next time he ever wants to talk to her, she'll ignore him. Even if it means tuning out his voice for hours on end, she would.

"Why did I think you'd be more mature in the after life?" she muttered to herself, getting up on her feet to continue on with her trek.

"Doesn't talking to me interfere with anything else?" Well, it shouldn't considering neither of them were being thrown into the past or future--hopefully.

He hadn't quite expected that reaction so he can't help but shoot her a bit of a skeptical expression. Possibly simply being around someone who only knew him when he was simply Anakin Skywalker is influencing him to be more like the young man she once knew. There was no telling if he stood around Luke long enough that his mannerisms wouldn't...shift a bit. But there was a lot of baggage there he simply didn't have with Rey, despite her feelings at the beginning of this conversation.

"Interfere with anything else like what?"

"I don't know," she shrugged her shoulders at him, taking one step at a time up the mountain.

If Rey saw the shift in Anakin, it would take a moment for her to get adjusted to it...and chances are, she would still rather prefer dealing with him as young as he was now--or at least looked and acted. If she met him when he was Vadar...that was anyone's guess.

"Again, thought there were rules to you being part of the Force now. We didn't go over a lot of what could be possible while I was still your pupil."

He snorts, "at the time I didn't even know this was possible. No one had ever talked about it."

Even when he'd died he hadn't exactly expected it. He certainly hadn't trained for it the way Yoda and Obi-Wan had.

An unexpected gift, apparently. "So if there are rules, nobody's bothered to inform me of them either."

"You say that now. Maybe one of the other Masters might try to drag you off," she teased lightly, keeping her gaze on what step she was going to take next. By now she was only half way up, she still had more steps to climb. At least she was able to enjoy the scenery...and maybe Anakin.

"He'll try to tempt me, you know. Him nor his Master will give up." She was referring to Ren, considering the last two times they fought, he offered her the chance to join his side.

"Of course he will. It's a habitual tactic. It happened to me." Obviously. "I did it to others. The circle of life," he says but that last is dripping with sarcasm. "They can't help themselves and they likely look at you as a tempting target."

Which is why she needs the training. To protect herself as well as others.

"I know," she told him, not too pleased to know she had a target on her back. How many more fights would she get into it with him? How many wounds would they try to inflict on one another?

"They'll want to use me, the same way they're using him."

"I know you don't want to hear this, but he needs help. He needs to get away from Snoke." He needs to stop idolizing a man dead twice over.

"And no, I don't know how. I just know it needs doing." And going into any conflict with him thinking in terms like needing to destroy him was just one way for the Dark Side to gain traction. Luke, at least, had learned that lesson better than anyone.

Yup, she didn't want to hear it, especially since the man managed to kill one of her friends. Han was sort of like a father figure to her, even though they weren't related to each other by blood. Watching him die had been painful. She stayed quiet on the subject, not denying it or agreeing to help Ren.

"If Luke couldn't stop him, then what chance do I have?" She didn't want to have blood on her hands, so killing Ren wasn't an option..

Nor did she want to get on Leia's bad side.

Let him put his wise mentor hat on here for a moment.

"The Force is with you, Rey. Of this I have absolutely no doubt. You've already done incredible things and at least one that Luke never has." Even if they still didn't know quite how she did it, that part didn't matter. Besides, Luke didn't have you." They can be a team now, kind of.

As convincing as Anakin was trying to be, it wasn't doing well with Rey. He could tell her as many times as he wanted that the Force was with her, but it didn't add up to much. If Han and Luke weren't able to stop Ren from turning Dark, then a stranger like her would have such a slim chance. Yes, she believed in the Force, but sometimes it could be wrong...right?

"I won't make much of a difference. If I don't join him, he'll try to kill me. Or keep trying."

He sighs.

"If it hadn't happened to me, I'd probably agree with you. But there is hope for him. There's hope for the whole galaxy. Talk with Luke about what happened, what went wrong. Try a different approach. There's so much conflict in Ren the only thing that seems to make sense to him is what Snoke tells him. A new narrative is needed and it has to be something that stands up against the one the so-called Supreme Leader has created."

Rey held her tongue to keep herself from snapping at Anakin. Ren didn't seem conflicted when he ended Han. He didn't seem conflicted when she was prisoner, or when they were fighting. No, there was no use in talking back about it, Anakin was dead set that there was still hope for Ren. Yes, there had been hope for Anakin before, but it seemed like there was nothing tethering Ren to anything.

"They only way that'll happen would be if we took him away from Snoke, but that's not going to happen any time soon."
