[Rey was dreaming again, sitting upon a a sandy shore and watching the waves crash on the beach. She was on an island, the same one she dreamed of so often. Always alone...always waiting and hoping for someone to come back. Or to come to her. It was like this place was untouched by time. No one seemed to live there, but Rey had never bothered to leave her spot.
She didn't realize the Force was at work. That she had was actively sharing her dream with another. Someone who she was connected to, whether she wanted to be or not. Someone she was trying to run from. She wasn't ready to face him again...but even now, she could feel his presence.]
...What do you want?
[She found herself asking out loud to no one in particular.]
[This was not something he expected to appear in his dreams. He generally did the most he could to not dream, since anything that could allow Snoke access to his mind was... No, he trusted his Master, it's just his dreams were his own]
[He surprised himself when he took the helmet off but if this is a dream - and he knows it is - he might as well take... advantage. Putting himself at east puts her at ease. It could provide useful for gaining information - if the droid gave the Resistance the last part of the map, then this girl is training with Luke Skywalker]
[That is if they had any sense they'd send her to train with him]
It's clearly important, if they keep bringing you back.
[He's a bit awkward at conversation. He's never had to have much use for it]
[He could try to probe her mind again, but she is capable of throwing him out. Was her loneliness that great that she felt the need to have him come to her? Or vice-versa? She wasn't training with Luke, not yet. She was still on her way to finding him.]
Don't know why though. There was nothing like this on Jakku.
[His statement, as obvious as it was, makes her chuckle a little.]
Can't believe they found you on that junkyard of a planet.
[Kylo Ren does not realise he holds the same views on certain places as Han Solo did but ... it's not unexpected if he does. The man did play some part in his formative years. He considers what she says about deafening silence.]
[His tone is disbelieving - he clearly thinks the Resistance had a base there. He is looking out at the ocean, not really looking at her when he speaks again]
There's a lot of noise in the world. For it to be gone, even for a moment. That would be nice.
I didn't know he existed until BB-8 pointed him out.
[There was no Resistance base on Jakku, and wouldn't he be able to sense if she was lying to him? She looks at him, shaking her head and beginning to feel annoyed.]
Noise, the sound, it means something. To sit still and hear nothing, it's...[Like waiting for death. Waiting to see how much longer she could hold out with very little food and water. To hear nothing would take her back to those days of being stuck inside her AT-AT home, waiting for the sand storm to pass.]
[Yeah, he wasn't in the mood for that hunt. He was glad when he realized she'd seen the map because it meant not having to constantly look for a damn droid. He glances at her briefly and turns back to the ocean]
For those who have heard it, silence is unpleasant.
[A small thing that he and the First Order wanted...and she has to put up her guard a little more, just so he wouldn't try to see the map in her mind.]
..Yes, it is.
[She fully turns to look at him, her legs crossed. Her eyes studying his face and his posture.]
I don't know what to make of you. I really don't. [All the potential he has...of all the things he's had...why turn to the Darkness? Why throw everything away?]
[A monster hiding behind a mask, is what she wants to say. To repeat what was said when they first met.]
Someone who knows loss, someone who knows pain, and someone who had the capacity to protect but doesn't.
Someone who would probably kill off their apprentice if Snoke told them to. [The words fly out of her mouth before she had the chance to actually think about them.]
[She can see the hurt she's inflicted and has to look away...she didn't mean to do that.]
No...I don't. For in all of that, you have your ...moments. [He didn't kill her right on sight. She knows he carried her to his ship. And even now, he's not trying to convince her to join him.]
[He surprised that it did hurt. Why should he care? He doesn't, he thinks, but it's the assumption he would do it that annoys. Of course, he would obey his Master's commands, but to assume that he automatically would was... annoying to him.]
Perhaps I'm trying a different tactic to bring you to the side of the First Order
[He lets it hang and then]
But for now, I'm not. It wouldn't be worth it. Not here.
[Not worth it? Not here? She should be grateful he's not trying anything, but...why does that annoy her? What? Does she actually like bantering and arguing with him?]

Sit, if you want. There isn't much else to do here.

No...it wouldn't be nice. It would...stale. Empty..meaningless.
